INTELLIGENT CREATIVE WOMEN TALK ABOUT THE WRITING PROCESS
My friend, CEO of Girl Friday Productions, and the stellar editor of my first two books, Leslie Miller is genius. She has her master’s in English literature, but dropped out of her PhD program because…
SUPPORT FOR HURRICANE HARVEY VICTIMS
If it is true the flutter of the butterfly’s wings in the Amazon can be felt all over the planet– then so can our support of light and love for those suffering from Hurricane Harvey.
LOVE IS THE ANSWER
Love messages show up in the most interesting ways.
THE WIND OF MY SOUL
The other weekend, a good friend shared her favorite song, “The Wind” by Cat Stevens. I grew up listening to a lot of his music (thanks to my dad), hearing this song countless times. Inspired by my friend, I recently started listening to it again.
IN PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS
I say, please pursue happiness. In whatever form that takes— if we love what we do, then everything tends to fall into place.
JESSE'S STORY
I come from a long line of artists. In fact 80% of our Zuni tribe are artists. When I was ten-years-old instead of being allowed to go out and ride my bike I was asked to help the family. I was taught our family’s craft, the art of jewelry making from my mother and father and grandmother.
HAPPINESS IS YOUR CHOICE
There is really no reason to suffer.
NEED A SHIFT IN ENERGY?
Allie, Sarah, and I are firm believers in the power of energy. Energy defined is “the ability to do work.” We feel this energy comes to us in all kinds of ways: the sacred lightness an innocent baby brings into a room, the warmth of the morning sun, the physical rush of endorphins from a strenuous hike. Good vibes or a shift into positive energy.
SUMMER SOLSTICE
Summertime is time to slow down. I find my body naturally want to groove to the rhythm of relaxation.
SOUL SPACE RETREAT SANTA FE 2017
Sarah, Allie, and I arrived a few days early to intentionally create time for self-care and replenish ourselves before we led 17 women on our retreat this past weekend in New Mexico.
SALT OF THE EARTH
This crystal blends the energies of the heart and solar plexus, the chakras of love and will. This rock salt geode is a “natural cleaner” of thoughts and intentions, and therefore helps to provide clarity on love whilst clearing away negative.
GRATITUDE IS A POWERFUL THING
“Gratitude bestows reverence, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life and the world.” – John Milton
I AM THE STORM
My ego whispered, “You are not strong enough to withstand the storm.”
Today, I whispered back, “I am the storm.”
A COLORFUL STATE OF MIND
People are drawn to authenticity– it is a snapshot of the best part of you. Artwork is a muse. Gouache watercolor paintings are an expression of inner work.
THE JEWELRY PROJECT
The inspiration came from a simple sandalwood prayer mala, a graduation gift from my swami. I loved wearing this mala and my yoga students often asked where they could get one too. The idea formed to develop a piece of jewelry which would act as a talisman; to bring the wearer comfort and a reminder to connect to spirit throughout the day. The design was named Serenity Beads.
PEACEFUL BUSY . BEE
I like to think of myself as productive. At the end of the day it feels good to reflect back and feel accomplished. But this satisfaction is very different than feeling the need to be in constant movement- constantly checking things off a list. The difference with living in a perpetual state of “doing” leaves us with that nauseating “I can’t do it all” feeling.
SACRED SPACE
We love to create SACRED SPACE and thought you may too. To make our space feel good in return makes our space feel more sacred—and when you feel good in your home, it brings a sense of comfort and security— it is easier to connect to the sacred in you, the best version of you.
GIRL POWER
I recently watched the documentary, The Eagle Huntress. A young Mongolian nomad girl in the most remote part of the least-populated country in the world captivates and inspires. The snowy rocky terrain of the Altai mountains is mesmerizing, and fascinating– as is the golden eagles of this region.
HEAL FROM THE INSIDE OUT
Worry and doubt create tension in our bodies and steal our energy. What could be more important in your day than to give yourself the opportunity to recharge and self-heal?
YOGA, MORE THAN ON THE MAT
For me, yoga is much more than the time spent on the mat. Twenty years ago when I came to know yoga, I went to a weekly Wednesday morning class. I quickly began to notice that Wednesdays were a good day for me.
A master of yoga, B.K.S. Iyengar, says that “the light that yoga sheds on life is something special. It is transformative. It does not change the way we see things; it transforms the person who sees. It brings knowledge and elevates it to wisdom.”
