Coffee and writing
Morning coffee time at my house
I started drinking coffee at seventeen years old. As a high school senior, I took a zero-hour college course at Kansas State University. Each morning, my dad and I would share a cup of coffee before heading to campus, where he taught and I attended my first college class.
For 45 years now, coffee has been a part of my morning ritual! I always strive to write about subjects that I am passionate about, especially those that can spread positivity. There is an overwhelming amount of information about what we should eat and drink, but I believe in the principle of "everything in moderation." A fantastic cup of coffee has become essential in my morning routine. My family even knows me as a true coffee snob—I will turn my nose up at gas station brews but feel pure delight from a freshly brewed, high-quality, organic, mold-free coffee.
Recently, I discovered a coffee bean that I am excited to share: Veneto La Mujer Coffee. These organic, mold-free beans are mild yet full-bodied, striking the perfect balance for great taste. I even emailed the company in South America to confirm their beans were mold-free, and within a few hours, I received a detailed response about their process. I have no affiliation with this product; I'm simply impressed with the company and eager to spread the word. In Texas, you can find it at the grocery store HEB under the brand La Mujer Organic.
Additionally, I love to support small businesses. My talented ceramist friend Kimmy, who owns Whiskey and Clay in Santa Fe, NM, creates beautiful hand-thrown mugs (and more) as part of her therapeutic practice, which she describes as “a forced mindfulness in everyday life.”
