If You Can Talk, You Can Write
A Guided Meditation and Journaling Workshop
I asked for black coffee. I am excited for the luxury of a quiet hour (and caffeine infusion) with nothing to hold my attention but my pen and paper. Heading to Santa Fe to facilitate a writing retreat, the coffee arrives with cream and sugar. I never drink it this way, darn. It-is-what-it-is, so I take another sip and wow, this milky elixir is a real treat. The earthy bitterness replaced with a sweetness similar to say drinking a liquid coffee chocolate.
Noticing the logo on the cup, I“Community in a Cup.” Coffee is egalitarian, it cuts across geographic, cultural, gender, and racial lines— equality in a cup of joe. That’s a beautiful thought. This Java also transports me back ten years ago to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Our three kids attended college there, and Community coffee is what they drink in LA. Initially, I was skeptical of this coffee, but it surprisingly won my taste buds’ affection. I notice this cup has a motto, “giving back sip by sip,” with this URL Coffee with Heart to show how they are making a difference. Leads me to— how do I make a difference? Who in my life feels I make a difference by being in their life? What can I do to dream bigger and make a difference?
All reflections from a paper cup of coffee— if you can talk, you can write.
Writing is a path to becoming more intimate with ourselves.
Whether you write down last night’s dream, what makes you happy, or your soul’s deepest longings, writing is healing, empowering, and can bring much-needed clarity. Our original and genuine reflections are much more real, interesting, and can bring profound insights. You never know when something wants to pour out of you, as it usually arrives uninvited and unexpected.
Here is some inspiration to help you at home.
